Good to see the prairie list coming to life for spring.
Prairie white trout lily grows in prairie and dry, open woodland; has
gray, unmottled leaves; and the tepals at the fully opened position
are about perpendicular to the stalk. Grows singly or in loose
colonies..
Woodland white trout lily grows in rich, mesic woods or rarely in
prairie thickets of hazel or sumac; has mottled leaves; and the
tepals reflexed when fully open. Grows in dense colonies,
interconnected by rhizomes and with many shoots not producing a
flower..
This is basically what was in Peggy Hutchinson's reply, but shorter.
