burn

Ahem.

I would like to announce to one and all that after 3 years of dithering I am 
no longer a prairie "virgin."  

I conducted my first field burn last month with the help of the county 
forester.  

The most important lesson we learned was that we need to do the next burn in 
February.  By March, here in middle Tennessee, there is already a lot of 
green under the dry.  After the official burn, we spent the next week tidying 
up green spots that didn't catch the first time.  

Cannot wait to see the results.  Thanks to all for the inspiration and 
encouragement found on this list.
