Dear prairie' list members,
Biodiversity Conservation Center (Moscow) and Siberian Environmental Center
(Novosibirsk) have started publishing a new English-language journal, "The Open
Country." This publication is intended to facilitate a dialogue across the borders
among the parties interested in preserving the biodiversity of, and fostering
sustainable land management in, the grassland biome around the globe.
Conceived as a forum for diverse interests, the journal will feature a broad
spectrum of topics relevant to grassland conservation, including environmental
history and current news on protected areas; accounts of research and restoration
projects; grassland folklore and aesthetics; economic and political issues
affecting the well-being of nature; information on endangered species,
conservation events and organizations; etc.
Articles in any of these areas are welcome.
"The Open Country" is distributed free of charge upon request. Please send your
requests, comments, and manuscripts to the managing editor:
