I continue to search for a source of Prairie Lily (Lilium
philadelphicum) seeds, if anyone knows of such a source please let me know.
Prairie Moon Nursery (MN) was once a source (most often did not have any,
when they did they could send only a few seeds); last year they sent me 12
seeds and we were able to get 8 of the 12 to germinate in a special indoor
facility. Of the 8 that germinated, 4 showed significant growth that year
in our outdoor nursery. I am anxious to see how the 4 will grow the second
year (in our outdoor nursery). I have no intentions to obtain any
commerical benefits from these plants (if they continue to grow
succesdsfully), I only want to add this species to my 20 acre prairie
restoration/reconstruction project in south-central Michigan where this
magnificent species is native but extremely rare.
Many thanks,
Cliff
