    Many thanks for your thoughtful responses to my question (Dodecatheon
media and thick native grasses).  This forb has long been my favorite as it
is the second native grassland forb to emerge in our area of Michigan [the
first is Anemone patens (Pasque Flower)].  It is always a very welcome
sight after our long and cold winters.  Your response's to my question were
interesting, helpful and encouraging...again, many thanks.

P.S.  As of today, we have no more winter snow in our area of Michigan; we
begin burning tomorrow!!!
