A fine point on the above, if possible, one will get better genetic
representation of the population if one collects 1/20 of the seeds
from every plant, rather than all the seed from one plant. This is
relatively easy from plant with multiple fruits, but one can also
strip a hole plant of its seed, take a pinch for propagation and
throw the rest to the wind near the parent plant. I have seen some
species (e.g. prairie parsley and Carolina larkspur) at my site
increase in numbers where I have used the latter technique.
