The University of Wisconsin has a new web site listing all the species of
plants currently growing out of cultivation in Wisconsin. It includes over
2500 taxa with a full synonomy list. You can browse or search the names.
Once you get your resulting list, click on any species to get the deatil
page. This page gives you (when available) a main photograph, origin and
status in Wisconsin (native, invasive, endangered etc), habitats,
distribution maps, more photos, and links to other pages including the USDA
Plants database giving federal distribution. There is also a habitat search
with discriptions and photos.
The site is under construction with new data being added as it becomes
available. Please comment both pro and con so we can improve the site. Thanks.
