Scott-I planted some black locust trees on our farm about 25 years ago, and
despite the wonderful flowers and all the insects they attract, they really
are a nuisance. I would not do it again. They have continually invaded two
of our reconstructed prairie tracts and I am continually treating the stumps
with herbicide. They are very difficult to get rid of.
I would work on management and my vote would be try and remove all the
nearby trees or the problem will never go away.
