Updated list rules

Recently, there have been a series of discussions on various mailing
lists and newsgroups regarding copyrights, archiving, and email. I have
updated the list rules sent out to new members to make clear that this
mailing list is intended to be a public forum, and archives are available
on the Internet.

I'm posting the changes here to protect each of you and Mallorn Computing
so that there can be no confusion. This message is not intended to
scare you, but only to clarify. If you're really not interested in
these legalities, I sincerely apologize. I wish I didn't have to deal
with them either. :)

The most significant change involves copyright. Under the Berne copyright
convention, everything created is copyrighted by its author and protected
by its mere creation -- no notices or registration are necessary (although
if you wish to sue for infringement, your work must be registered with
the Copyright Office). Other changes to the document are minor and
involve spelling corrections and general rewording.

In essense, the document says that by subscribing to this list, you agree
to assign your copyrights on each individual message that you send through
to Mallorn Computing. This means that others in the list are allowed
to freely quote your email in its entirety, and Mallorn Computing is
allowed to create a publically viewable archive.

Mallorn Computing can also freely pull out useful sections of your
postings for newsletters, FAQs, or to answer specific questions from
other users. This would most likely fall under fair use law anyhow.

If you have any questions or comments, please let me know, and I will
address them.

Chris

RULES:

o No images are to be transmitted via email. If you have a need
to share pictures, send mail to owner-prairie@mallorn.com
and a common area can be set up.

o Users must respect other users and the content of this list. We

     observe these rules.

o Keep frivolous messages to a minimum, and keep message content
