If you knew my graduate thesis topic, you would say that I don't
belong on the list, but since my undergraduate days when I met the
"Father of the Prairie" he gave me a passion for the environment and
the prairie. Funny enough, my graduate research is in environmental
microbiology (ocean).
I haven't lived near a real prairie for the past 6 years, but I
still love the beauty of the spring, summer and fall colors of
the Illinois tall grass prairie--to the point that someday, I would
love to have a "lawn" filled with this instead of the Kentucky
bluegrass monocultures. (Of course I haven't passed this by
my future husband).
Anyway, I'd love to stay connected with the prairie even though
I'm studying the bacteria in the ocean.
