This list has been a little quiet of late, and I feel partially guilty. So
I'm going to try getting things going by tossing out a few questions that
I think we need to answer before we can even start discussing anything
else. These will go into the FAQ (frequently asked questions).
First, what is a prairie? The definition on my website is:
A plant community dominated by perennial forbs and grasses, forming
flammable turf in autumn. Generally broken down into dry, dry-mesic,
mesic, wet-mesic, and wet. Types of prairies include sand prairies,
gravel prairies, dolomitic prairies, hill prairies, and shrub
prairies.
Better than some that I've heard, worse than others. Mostly a little dry.
What needs to go into the definition of a prairie?
Chris
