I would ask this question on the SOCINSCT list. Here, you would have
access to biologists who have broad interests. I think the focus too
broad for your question on Bee-l or Bombus-l.

Subscribe by sending a note to LISTSERV@CNSIBM.ALBANY.EDU
with SUBSCRIBE SOCINSCT your name, in the body. Many lists
permit postings from non-subscribers, so you can try that if you prefer.

You might also consider writing to karens@uidaho.edu

Agriculture, Univ. of Idaho.

The preference exhibited by pollinators for particular flowers can
usually be related back to energy economics (that is, making a profit
on the flight for the colony) or to biological imperatives such as
tongue length. Some flowers, like bottle gentian, can only be
serviced by one pollinator. Most nectar producers will host a great
variety of social and solitary pollinators. I suspect that the list you
seek does not exist, but would be easily assembled by you and
your partner in the course of one summer. Any list made would
be specific to that narrow region and time. The interaction between
the lives of nectar producers and nectar eaters is so dynamic that
without narrowing your focus considerably, any list you develop
may have limited predictive qualities. I would zero in either on one
genus of plant or one species of pollinator. You have much to
choose from.
