Freezing Indian pumps

I have had problems with the Indian backpack mumps freezing up when the
temperature even approaches freezing.  Since I am required to burn after
dark in some cases this is a real safety concern.  Anybody ever used any
type of antifreeze in the pumps.  It would have to be non-flammable,
non-corrosive, and water soluable.
