Larry-this came to me via Lloyd Crim hope it is useful.

I would try the nontoxic antifreeze before I would try the windshield
washer antifreeze. The nontoxic is the stuff we used to use to protect
mobile home water lines, and it is also the component in some foodstuffs,
it is propylene (sp?) glycol, as opposed to the toxic ethylene glycol. If
you look at food dyes, sometimes they contain propylene glycol. Windshield
washer antifreeze contains some alcohols that could be toxic, particularly
methanol. I would check the labels, but I don't think the washer
antifreeze would be good. The nontoxic antifreeze is available in the
hardware stores, it is becoming much more available than when I was working
a few years ago. It might be also known as RV antifreeze, used for
winterizing RV water tanks and lines.
