Re: planning parameters

The site selection process for a prairie reconstruction should also consider
the ability to manage the prairie once established.  For example is the site
too steep to mow?  If so, initial establishment may be difficult since many
recommend mowing of the "weedy" species the first year.  Is the site next to
buildings, roads, other property?  If yes, will burning be possible?  For
example, will neighbors complain about smoke? will you be limited on the days
you can burned based on wind direction to control smoke blowing over a road.
