In my neck of the woods, the boundary between prairie and forest can often be based upon soils.  unless the soil types were tested to be the same, than the results are in error.

I agree that these statements are contradictory to previous work on the enhanced infiltration capacity of prairie. As a civil engineer that uses prairie restoration as part of the overall stormwater management plan, I agree and we need additional research to understand the benefits of re established prairie ecosystems.
