Re: now what?
Carmen,
What is and has been blooming in the old hay field?
Prairie Enthusiasts,
Finally found some Marsh Phlox (Phlox glaberrima). I'd never seen them
before.
Anybody familiar with Pale Indian Plantain (Arnoglossum
atriplicifolium)? I started last fall with 2 plants in one location.
They are now 10 plants with 6 blooming. Did the seed really fall to
dense sod, germinate, grow to blooming size in less than a year? Pretty
plant too.
Also was hiking with a friend and we found a hill prairie on her
brothers farm. She cleared it of woody vegetation the very next week and
we hope to burn next April. Chocked full of stuff. Unfortunately her
brother is selling the farm and she can't quite figure out how to buy
it. One of the woods there is home to a large population of Showy Orchis
(Orchis spectabilis, sorry I don't remember the new name).
