Carmen,

Try Newcomb's Wildflower Guide (Little, Brown & Co) - it's by far & away
the best available for beginners. I use it extensively in my Field Botany
& Environmental Botany courses here at the Univ. of Illinois (the grade
school siblings of some of my students have used it & loved it).
