Re: excuse posting - cold storage of prairie seed

I am interested in a discussion of seed viability. I've heard it said that
some species (liatris, sedges) are best planted immediately, as the seed
does not remain viable for long. I've heard it said that the seed of some
species will lock into an extended dormancy (not sure that is the correct
term). I understand that light and high temperatures are ruinous to
viability -- are there others on the list who would appreciate a sharing of
knowlege on this issue?
