Hello, Termo Mark, a co. in MO has hydroseeded at least 200 acres and probably several hundred acres of native grasses to highway right of way for MODOT. I head up a group that got premision to put native forbs with the grass seed and they are hydroseeding this mix on about 100 acres. Its too early to know the results of the forbs but some of the earlier native grass only seems ok.Using prairie hay as a mulch on top is being done on most of it and should add a lot more species. Their number is 660-775-2216. Carrie and Curtis are the owners and seem to be very nice. Wayne
Hello,
I'm working on a plan to plant native grasses on a federal agency property.
We would like to do it using a hydroseeder, as we already have one. I'm
looking for advice from others who may have hydro-seeded native grasses
and/or forbs. Specifically, I'm looking for info. such as seeding rate,
what should be put into the hydroseed mixture, site prep., etc. I know
hydroseeding is not the preferred planting method, but I'm looking to see if
it is feasible.
I have received some helpful comments from Dr. Geiger at U. Dayton, but I am
trying to get a broader survey of experienced grass planters.
Feel free to email privately.
Thanks,
Kari Cohen
