I have just been informed by Paul Montgomery (premier photographer of
Texas grasses) that Dr. Barton Warnock died two days ago.
Dr. Warnock long ago retired from his professorship at Sul Ross
University in west Texas, but he continued to share his knowledge and
love of grasses in workshops for Big Bend National Park and with the
Native Prairies Association of Texas.
He authored WILDFLOWERS OF THE GUADALUPE MOUNTAINS AND THE SAND DUNE
COUNTRY, TEXAS and WILDFLOWERS OF THE DAVIS MOUNTAINS AND THE MARATHON
BASIN, TEXAS. He included many native grasses in these books.
He will be sorely missed and was much appreciated and loved.
I hope this is an OK use of the prairie email.
