Western Iowa

Sunday I was driving in rural western Iowa with my 88 year old Mother. When mother was a young girl most section of Iowa had at least four farms families living on the land. Now it is about one farm place in every four sections. Farmers no longer have free ranging livestock only confined operations. Because of this most fences have been removed. As we drove down the road were we could not see buildings or fences for miles my Mother commented that this what the prairie was like when white man first crossed Iowa. There were two hawks hunting , a fresh fox den along the road and Robins looking for mates. The only thing were missing the prairie plants, Elk and Buffalo. What are the chances it will be back.
