Plateau herbicide is a tool. And like any
other tool it may fit your needs and it may not. One thing is for
certain with respect to prairie restoration on former agricultural land,
is that you will have to deal with the existing flora. most cropped
fields have an abundance of introduced weeds species. Additionally
these fields are generally more fertile than they were in the native
condition. At least that is the case with much of our land in the Corn
Belt. This enhances the weed growth. Having said all of this it is
apparent that the first few years in establishing a native plant
community is a struggle due to weeds. This material has its place as a
potential tool but it is not a "silver bullet".
