Aggressive Sunflowers

Every year I plant annual sunflowers for the birds to eat in the fall.
I am considering planting "Prairie" sunflowers instead so they will be
perennial and save me the work. The area I plant in, is surrounded by a
lawn, so they would not easily spread into my prairie.
The kinds of sunflowers might include Downy Sunflower (Heliantus Mollis),
Showy Sunflower (Laetiflorus) etc. .
I suspect the 'food' value would be less than the annual sunflowers....

Feedback, comments, reactions etc are invited, please...
thanks
