The Wachiska Audubon Society of Lincoln Nebraska has received a grant of $66,000.00 for preservation of Virgin Prairie from the Nebraska Environmental Trust. The preservation can be outright purchase or easement purchase. The Prairie must be north of the Platte River in tall grass prairie region excluding Douglas County (The County Omaha is In). The problem is that the society has not be able to find a willing land owner even after a two year search. They have six weeks to find a will land owner or they will loose the grant. This is a long shot but does any one have contact with prairie land owners in Nebraska that might be willing to preserve their land.
