RE: Fertilizer


I whole-heartedly endorse Kirk's recommendation.  There is research that
demonstrates negative results from fertilization of prairie, especially if
you are interested in native biodiversity (and we should be).

The conventional wisdom is, no fertilizer for prairie plantings. You only
only
help the weeds. Integrated Roadside Vegetation Management uses no fertilizer
for native plantings and we are planting into far more impoverished soils
than
anyone in your program. I can fax you an article if you like. Just send a
number.
