I've lived in west Texas. Although the desert has its own beauty you tend to
get very excited by anything green or anything resembling a plant not a
cactus. I was given some seeds by a coworker and let my kids plant them in
the front yard. They grew like a house afire. Turned out they were castor
bean plants, highly poisonous and illegal to grow where we lived! But they
sure were pretty.
