We need your help again to save the prairie on the Loess Hills. The Loess
Hills Preservation Society is making progress at preventing removal of fill
dirt from the Loess Hills( soil mining) by persuading the user of the soil
to find the dirt from other place besides the Loess Hills. They all most
have the Mayor of Omaha talked into signing an executive order directing
all departments to secure fill dirt from outside the Loess Hills landform .
Terry of the LHPS ask for your help
We need your help! We have a tremendous opportunity to get Mayor Daub with
the City of Omaha to issue an executive order directing all departments to
secure fill dirt from outside the Loess Hills landform area. In fact, the
Loess Hills Preservation Society has been working with the Mayor of Omaha
for nearly four months.
However, as we approach the finish line on this important set of
negotiations; we really could use your help. That being, could you write
the Mayor a letter that is positive, but also asks him to help our cause by
issuing the executive order?
Thank you!
Mayor Hal Daub's e-mail address is:

Major talking points for your note or your letter:
I'd like to share my excitement about some news that I just heard about
your work with the Loess Hills Preservation Society.
You can help preserve the landmark status and world-famous Loess
Hills. The Loess Hills are so important, the National Park Service will
lead a study starting later this fall to determine how the Hills of western
Iowa can receive protection at the Federal level.
Massive amounts of soil are being removed for fill on a daily basis.
The long term viability of the region is now in serious doubt If you help
the effort to preserve the Loess Hills by directing the City of Omaha to no
longer secure fill dirt from the Loess Hills landform area you will receive
praise at the local, regional and national level.
Please act on this once in a lifetime opportunity to help preserve a
world-famous landmark.
You can position Omaha as a city that recognized the importance of this
important resource for the countless tourists who will visit the area for
the Lewis and Clark Bicentennial.
