Re: Rochester, MN status

Steve,
I actually planted 1 hill last year on April 8th...that was my 693 Heyne seed
that
did produce my 472 that rotted mid season and the 401 that placed 6th at the
SE MN weighoff....which by the way is going GPC to be official!
However, I only do this with items I have extra seed on...Your 837 will not
be going in till later...probably 2-3 more weeks. The average night temp of
60 degrees down here begins June 19ish so I like to get the pumpkins going in
time for that...as I can
not trust we will have a warm september ;-). Although we have had some 30
degree nights in July...just 2 years ago...never know.
Sorry you are not planting this year...I know you had worked your garden hard
last fall. However, years go by pretty fast and soon it will be th 2001
season!
Take it easy!

folks in MN, must be shooting for the state fair? I'm envious though. I'll
be moving down the road this summer so I've decided not to plant this year
and I'm going cold turkey for a year. It'll be up to you southern MN growers
to keep us in the running again this year. Best of luck, Pumpkinpiper
