Oregon Update

Greetings from the ellusive northwest where men are men, women are women, and
pumpkins are orange. Yep, its time once again for another all encompasing
titanically terrific, exceptionally excellent and in other words basic old
Oregon update.
I have revamped the patch removing the grapes and kiwi, replumbed the
sprinkler system, and added 12.5 yards of potting soil (so far). I have
located a vast source of potting soil and have found it quite valuable.
Education on soil and fertilizer has been a priority this spring as it seems
to be a point that I am a little weak in. Here is a run down on the
sites.....
Site #1...Home to the 946.5 Geerts and the 697 Ciliberto. This site is still
a little wet and needs a final tilling, but it is looking good.
Site #2...Home to the 900.5 Lyons and my #862.5 squash from last year.
Greenhouse is up except for plastic and all tilling is done.
Site #3...Home to the 821 Stellpflug and the 815 Anderson.
Site #4...Home to the 1006 Greer and the 730 Stellpflug. My weighty genetics.
Site #5...Home to the 879 Holland and my 720 from 98. A little better timing
and the 879 should rock the house. The 720 needs to be given a real shot
here at home.
Site #6...Okay, time to put the beast from the west against its mommy. This
is not a loving relationship here, the 850.5 Hester is going to atampt to
live up to the hype and go head to head against the 801.5 Stelts. Don't tell
the 850, but I think mother knows best.
Site #7...Home to the 793 Hester and the 968 Sproule. There could be a
change here at the last minute, but maybe not.
Site #8...Home to the 620 Black and the 865 Mettler. Could be a viscous
combo of fruity flavors.
Site #9...Home to the 743 Hester and its mommy the #935 Lloyd.

I hope to get over the 500 pound mark again this year. With all the better
and wiser growers here in Oregon I will be lucky to get out of Oregon as the
4th or 5th best grower in the state.

Peace to all, Good Luck, and I'll be starting tomorrow in 2 sites.
