Noooooooooo, actually I think it is good to debate this stuff out in the
open. O.K., I admit there is a bit of a personal tone to a lot of it, but if
we get past that, this is valuable stuff for all of us. We are all after the
same goal, we all have to bond together to achieve that. Virus issues are
serius since they can do a lot worse than mess our giant pumpkins up, they
can cause a lot of commercial damage to other cucurbit crops. I don't think
anyone should put anyone else down, let's just discuss this stuff openly and
in good spirits. I don't have any reason to pretend I know about things that
I don't know about, and I always admit that I am no "seasoned expert", but I
think I do know alot about botany and biology. I am sure there are plenty
here that know a lot more than me. But it certainly is not good to just take
other's words for anything. Always question and debate anything that doesn't
seem right, or that you have a contrary hypothesis or opinion about. Most
great scientists were told they were morons by every other scientist at the
time. So that's just a little encouragement for you guys out there who have
"unpopular" theories about things. (And no, I am not implying I am some
great scientist, not even close! But anyway....). Just post your evidence,
your thoughts, opinions, and stuff to back it up the best you can. Hopefully
we all can stay open minded. I sure am trying to be. Like CMV transmission
in c. maxima via seed, I challenged anyone to show me one case of it
happening, and I noted several incidents where it "should" have happened,
but didn't. Hey, if someone shows me where this did happen, I am willing to
change my mind. But after extensive research on my own, I have only found
evidence that points in the opposite direction. And let's not imply that
others here are dishonest and deceitful (about testing seeds or whatever
else), I certainly have no motive to lie, and I don't think any others here
do either. There is no money to be made by anyone. (Well, most of us)! Being
deceitful would work AGAINST everything we are trying to work for, it
doesn't even make any sense. Well, now I already have written way more than
I wanted! Sheesh, why do I always do this? Well I'll try and shut up now.
(I'll TRY)!
