Re: the GPC

Yea, it is too bad this all has to be political. Lets get the money and
power out of it and just make this a fun hobby.

<div>&gt;I was one of the original founders of the GPC and it pains me to
see the</div>
<div>&gt;way that the organization has evolved over the last
decade.&nbsp; When</div>
<div>&gt;Wiberg, Green and myself first started the GPC, our intent was
to get</div>
<div>&gt;away from the heavy hand of Ray Waterman.&nbsp; We envisioned a
new</div>
<div>&gt;organization that was based on regional weigh-off sites that
would</div>
<div>&gt;ensure that the 3 original sites of Topsfield, Anamosa and Nut
Tree</div>
<div>&gt;would remain viable and highly successful weigh-offs.&nbsp; Soon
after we got</div>
<div>&gt;started, Dill and his Windsor site joined us to make four sites
for our</div>
<div>&gt;first event.&nbsp; The problem started when Hugh Wiberg began to
make</div>
<div>&gt;decisions that ran contrary to what the rest of us, (The Dills,
Norlin,</div>
<div>&gt;Green) would decide during our numerous conference calls.&nbsp;
We would vote</div>
<div>&gt;on policy and tell Wiberg who was our spokesperson to implement
it but</div>
<div>&gt;on too many occasions, he didn't.&nbsp; Hugh would just do what
he wanted</div>
<div>&gt;to.&nbsp; The first problem started with Sarnia but there were
many others.</div>
<div>&gt;He began to push hard for sites all over the place EXCEPT IN
NEW</div>
<div>&gt;ENGLAND.&nbsp; I would tell Hugh that I didn't have a problem
with a couple</div>
<div>&gt;more sites in the Midwest if he would add a site in his
backyard.&nbsp; He</div>
<div>&gt;always evaded the subject.&nbsp; I put up with as much B.S. from
him as I</div>
<div>&gt;could stand and finally I said enough.&nbsp; Two years later,
Dill did too.</div>
<div>&gt;The GPC was never supposed to become a one man show like the
WPC.&nbsp; But</div>
<div>&gt;from the very beginning, that is what we let it evolve
into.&nbsp; I tried to</div>
<div>&gt;get the Dill's to support me but they decided that they couldn't
at that</div>
<div>&gt;time.&nbsp; Two years later, they wish they had.&nbsp; Now, 3 of
the original 4</div>
<div>&gt;founders of the GPC are out.&nbsp; This should tell growers and
especially</div>
<div>&gt;some of you other site coordinators something.&nbsp; It's just
too bad.&nbsp; I</div>
<div>&gt;hope that Anamosa tells Wiberg to go fly a kite and joins up
with</div>
<div>&gt;Windsor and Mike Green again.&nbsp; Did you know that there has
been some</div>
<div>&gt;discussion among them recently?&nbsp; There may be some changes
in the wind.</div>
<div>&gt;The WPC dominated the 1980's.&nbsp; The GPC dominated the
1990's.&nbsp; Who will</div>
<div>&gt;lead the way in this decade?&nbsp; On a lighter note, good luck
in 2000!</div>
