Re: the GPC
Yea, it is too bad this all has to be political. Lets get the money and
power out of it and just make this a fun hobby.

<div>>I was one of the original founders of the GPC and it pains me to

<div>>Wiberg, Green and myself first started the GPC, our intent was
to get</div>
<div>>away from the heavy hand of Ray Waterman. We envisioned a
new</div>
<div>>organization that was based on regional weigh-off sites that
would</div>
<div>>ensure that the 3 original sites of Topsfield, Anamosa and Nut
Tree</div>
<div>>would remain viable and highly successful weigh-offs. Soon
after we got</div>
<div>>started, Dill and his Windsor site joined us to make four sites
for our</div>
<div>>first event. The problem started when Hugh Wiberg began to
make</div>
<div>>decisions that ran contrary to what the rest of us, (The Dills,
Norlin,</div>
<div>>Green) would decide during our numerous conference calls.
We would vote</div>
<div>>on policy and tell Wiberg who was our spokesperson to implement
it but</div>
<div>>on too many occasions, he didn't. Hugh would just do what
he wanted</div>
<div>>to. The first problem started with Sarnia but there were
many others.</div>
<div>>He began to push hard for sites all over the place EXCEPT IN
NEW</div>
<div>>ENGLAND. I would tell Hugh that I didn't have a problem
with a couple</div>
<div>>more sites in the Midwest if he would add a site in his
backyard. He</div>
<div>>always evaded the subject. I put up with as much B.S. from
him as I</div>
<div>>could stand and finally I said enough. Two years later,
Dill did too.</div>
<div>>The GPC was never supposed to become a one man show like the
WPC. But</div>
<div>>from the very beginning, that is what we let it evolve
into. I tried to</div>
<div>>get the Dill's to support me but they decided that they couldn't
at that</div>
<div>>time. Two years later, they wish they had. Now, 3 of
the original 4</div>
<div>>founders of the GPC are out. This should tell growers and
especially</div>
<div>>some of you other site coordinators something. It's just
too bad. I</div>
<div>>hope that Anamosa tells Wiberg to go fly a kite and joins up
with</div>
<div>>Windsor and Mike Green again. Did you know that there has
been some</div>
<div>>discussion among them recently? There may be some changes
in the wind.</div>
<div>>The WPC dominated the 1980's. The GPC dominated the
1990's. Who will</div>
<div>>lead the way in this decade? On a lighter note, good luck
in 2000!</div>
