Re: Don't blame Anamosa
Very few, if any, pumpkin growers from SE Minnesota have taken their
pumpkins to Anamosa for the weigh off. A weigh off site in Austin,
Minnesota, would have very little, if any impact on Anamosa's weigh off.
Since the early 90s, the Rochester and Austin area pumpkin growers have
taken their pumpkins to a WPC site at Byron, Mn (just west of Rochester) and
last year to a local weigh off in Austin. Last year the Austin weigh off
date was one week before the Anamosa weigh off and not one person who
attended the Austin weigh off took their pumpkin to Anamosa.
It is between 180 and 190 miles to Anamosa and most growers in this area
would prefer a local site and not spend all day traveling. Anyway, I do.
