Hagrid's pumpkins
I don't know how many of you are aware of the Harry Potter phenomenon...
it's a series of children's books that's captivating the younger set these
days. Harry Potter is a young wizard attending a school of witchcraft and
wizardry and Hagrid is a sweet, enormous, earthy gamekeeper who lives on the
grounds of the school.
My daughter is in the first grade - not quite ready to read these books by
herself, so I'm reading them with/to her. Imagine my surprise when, in the
second book, we step into Hagrid's vegetable garden and find... GIANT
PUMPKINS - "each the size of a large boulder" !! Hermione, the star pupil
thinks he's been working Engorgement Charms on them.
At one point we hear that the pumpkins are as big as garden sheds, and by
Halloween they become jack-o-lanterns large enough for three men to sit
inside. (You might take this opportunity to revisit

any young Harry Potter fans you know!)
Wishing you all successful Engorgement Charms this season!!
Beth
