Burying vines

     I have a plant that is about a month old and 3 to 4 feet long.  I have
been burying the vine at each leaf axil but between two of the axils the vine
has developed a crap perpendicular to the way the vine grows.  It this going
to be a growing problem.  Is there anything to do to make this better?
