Re: Don't blame Anamosa

Gregory,

The Des Plaines, IL site was NOT part of the WPC last year and the WPC was
not responsible for anything to do with the event. If you paid a membership
fee to the WPC, then you really got burnt. I don't recall any grower or
organizer contacting me to ask if they were an official site. Never saw any
of that membership money. It wouldn't be the first time a site has said they
were part of the WPC. The Topsfield Fair was still doing that until 1996,
some 8 years after they were kicked out and who knows, for promotional
reasons they may still be doing it! I mean, really if you were doing it for
8 years what would stop you now! So you see the GPC under Wiberg has
problems. The New England site at Topsfield hired a huge PR Firm to promote
its event. They actually left out the fact it was a WPC event for years.
And broke many of the rules agreed to in the site agreement. Good luck with
Wiberg & Topsfield. If the event there is not about money then I'll eat the
winning pumpkin.
