re: cloned pumpkins--GREAT idea with amazing potential, and ethical too!

I'm new to this idea of cloning a pumpkin (or at least keeping the plant
alive for next year) I guess I haven't been putting in the hours I
really should on the list this last year--maybe someone could summarize
the whole concept. Are we keeping the 746.8 plant that Joe grew alive
all winter and then grafting vines from it into other plants, or
something!? What a cool idea! I'll be growing the 746.8 Scherber this
season and am very excited, but to be able to grow the very plant that
produced Joe's 1009--now that's an intriguing proposition! And how nice
to not have to worry about this ethics of this whole cloning project--if
the offspring turn out to be mutants, no one will really care, will
they? This is science at its best. I have to commend Marc and everyone
involved. I, for one, will be watching.
