Subject: Which seeds should I plant?

Hi All

I've rarely posted to the list (except by accident), but I review most every
post to keep updated on what's going on.

This is my second year growing. Thanks to the help of Bob Troy and Jon Hunt
I grew a 411.5 pounder last year (turned out to be a squash, but it took
first in its category at Elk Grove). This year my sights are set a little
higher and this is where I was hoping some of you might share your opinions
on my seed list below.

This year I sent out a lot of bubble packs and received generous donations
from the majority of the growers I contacted. Thank you all very much!!! I
also attended the growers meeting in Elk Grove in February and picked up a
bunch more seeds. Additionally, I've been doing a lot of research on the
AGGC which is an awesome resource (I still need to send my donation which
I'll do soon).

My patch is about 3600 square feet. Since I live in Southern California I
don't get as much total solar radiation as you northern folks. I plan to
partially compensate for that by growing larger plants. I'm looking to have
three plants. I've narrowed my seed selection down to nine choices listed
below. Any opinions on which ones I should plant would be greatly
appreciated.

520 Emmons '99- 866 Mombert (F) x 1056 Stellpflug (M)
746 Black - 559 Geerts (F) x 697 Ciliberto (M)
730 Stellpflug '96 - 887 Orr (F) x 963 Zehr (M)
865 Mettler '98 - 946.5 Geerts (F) x 567.5 Momber (M)
910 Stellpflug '00 - 946.5 Geerts (F) x 780 Eaton (M)
747 Lloyd '99 - 1056 Stellpflug (F) x 650 Lloyd (M)
983.6 Ciliberto '00 - 946.5 Geerts (F) x 935 Lloyd (M)
978.5 Lloyd '99 - 650 Lloyd (F) x 906.5 Lloyd (M)
968 Stellpflug '00 - 1009.5 Eaton (F) x 946.5 Geerts (M)

I am looking for a good genetic variation between my three plants. I plan
to
only choose one of the four that have the 946.5 Geerts as the female plant
(1009.5 Eaton is 946.5 Geerts sib pollinated).

Best of luck to everyone this year. Hope you have fun.

Best regards,

Chris Gregory
