Re: Long and lanky seedlings
Mike,
I'd only have the grow lamp on for around 10 hours
a day. and i'd try to get it closer to the seedlings.
Barb is right that this happenes is common.
If your good seeds turn out leggy then just handle
them extra carefully and make sure they are well
protected. It doesn't take long for them to thicken
up and be fine.
Also i think leggy plant are more likely to get
length-wise vine splits in the leggy area. Which
always cause a lot of extra worrying. but from what i
have seen and read this won't hurt your plant or
chances of growing a big one.
Last year i had the above mentioned, I placed sand
around plant to support it. it worked for me.

The plants are out of the ground for 10 days, got
there first true leaves, but are long and lanky. Some
have bent over. I had them under a grow lamp for 15
hours a day. The lamp was 8 inches above the
seedlings. How can I get my plants more sturdy, when I
plant my good seeds. Any advice would be appreaciated.
