Patchwork questions
Spent 3 hours, 10 mins with my trusty shovel in the patch today, smiling
at who it was on the list who thinks Caliphornia is arrid. No, some of
the starlets are, and we pronounce it with an H sound to start the
second syllable. But where I'm growing, it's pure greenery between the
patch and Mt. Saint Helena. Beyond the patch there's the pasture where
llamas and Brahmas graze (I'm not making this up). Then the golf course,
beyond which the earth turns downward to accommodate the horizon, they
say, but really it's under the weight of all the sunshine. Then the
green foothills and the mountain, maybe 20 miles to the east (hello,
Napa!)
The patch has lots of fat earthworms, but today I found a squirming
angry yellow centipede critter (or what?) and smashed it with my shovel.
Did I do right?
Then a long green millipede critter (or what?), all graceful. I smashed
it too, was that right?
Then a short fat segmented thing, with sluggish movement, that almost
looked like a short fat earthworm. I stomped on it, was that right?
