Preliminary results NZ
Our numbers were down with only about fifty pumpkins in and so were the
weights down as well, possibly because of the dry summer. But, we had a
hot, sunny day with lots of people and many smiling faces. The park looked a
million bucks and everybody had gathered from across the whole province.
Our top weight went to Alex Watts of Hawera with 131.5 kilos.
Eric - The Taranaki Pumpkin which was an Emmons X Armstrong was 151 KG but I
did not enter him .
This means that the top NZ weight of 247 kilos for this year goes to a
grower in Kawerau. I spoke to Tracey this morning and she wll confirm the
name and weight tomorrow.
I will put up all the weights tomorrow - I am just about done for. A
fantastic day with a record profit for Council not measured in dollars but
in happy memories. There were so many children there all excited and this
year I cut holes in all my pumpkins and the kids scooped the seeds out all
afternoon, some climbing right in to get the seeds,
I have lots of shots of kids in pumpkins, on pumpkins etc. I will get them
all sorted soon. The highlight of the day was Miss Taranaki - Melana Flay, a
fantastic person who made everybody welcome and full of energy and smiles.
I will get all the weights of your seeds in by tomorrow.
Time for a long hot bath and a cold wine.
