There are some bad points if you plant early like heating the
plant or covering it but if you live where there is not much night time
heat during the summer or if September is a cold month. this may the only way to
break the 1000 LB mark. Hopefully your 1000 plus pumpkin won't rot or loss
to much weight by the time of the weighoffs out of the 20 or so pumpkins
that have reached a 1000 not one has been grown in zone 4 or less to my
knowledge. best of luck this season.
