Re: Seeds

Brock's idea is good - if there were a volunteer to coordinate information,
then not only would the seed donor send out a seed, but also an information
sheet for people to fill out along the way (perhaps prepared by someone
else). When I did my questionnaire a couple of years ago, many many growers
responded saying they would love to help, but they don't keep track of all
the information I requested. Many said if I wanted them to fill out the
questionnaire for the coming year, they would be happy to do that...

Then the next part is to pool questions. One person might be interested in
fruit development rates, another in plant growth habit, another in growth
rates relative to soil temps or humidity or whatever, hours/minutes of
sunlight, etc.

If you all were to organize a big growing experiment like that, it might be
worth the extra effort to plan ahead so as to maximize what we could really
learn from it.

Geez, I think Greg Schraiber would be an EXCELLENT person to be involved in
a project like this. Dan Shapiro is another one, though I haven't heard
much from him for a long time.

Just tossing around ideas, Rocky. Great idea!

I think that it is a fantastic idea...................to pool our
information....................one thought I had was to monitor
........how frequent the first seed to send out root or perhaps.....breaks
ground.....ends up you best plant=pumpkin.................

Surely there is much info that growers point to that states my big one
came from my slowest plant. What i think is a good Idea is if you can
seed in a planter that has saran wrap bottom ......to a wide open bottom
..or a window to watch the roots................

is the fastest root to the bottom your best plant?? For past years the
answer is yes.........need help to develope a theory...
