You might want to try human hair tied to a stick , and put it in your patch to keep the deer out. The sent of people usually scares them away!!

Last year the deer walked right over our Marigolds, right past the
motion detector controlled lights and pulsating, ultrasonic speakers and
ate my hot peppers, plants, peppers and all. They also ate tomato's and
other things but not the pumpkins(thank God). I did try hot pepper wax
spray on the tomato's and it seemed to keep them away.
