Hello Group,
I would like to remind everyone about the 1st annual Indiana Pumpkin Growers Seminar May 4th. It will be held at 4540 South Madison in the Indianapolis Chrsitian Fellowship Lodge. The seminar starts at 11:00 a.m. Central Standard Time or noon for you east coasters. We will have a live plant giveaway as well as seeds (for everyone) I hope. We will be showing a video by Neal Kinsey on how to proper test and balance your soil. I have seen this video first hand and I think everyone else should as well.
We will also be having a panel discussion on how to grow giants. This topic will be broad and cover many of the common problems associated with growing giants in the midwest. It will include everything from pest control, to vine training, to soil diseases, to destroying the fungus among us.
Jane Stevens from the Indiana State Fair and Joe Huber from Huber family farms will also be present to announce their !st annual giant pumpkin weigh-offs. The State Fair weigh-off is scheduled for Aug 17 and the Huber Farm Market weigh-off is scheduled for Sept 21. Both should carry a top prize of $1000.
Note: For those of you who know you are coming to the seminar, please RSVP via email to Brad2julie@aol.com. I would like to have a general idea of who and what to expect.
Thank you,
Brad Walters
IPGA Organizer
