Re: Calcium Nitrate

According to "the Encyclopedia of ORGANIC GARDENING".....

EGGSHELLS: "Added regularly to the compost heap, eggshells will supply
a considerable amount of lime to the soil over a period of years. They
contain a good deal of calcium, over 1 percent nitrogen and about
0.4 percent phosphoric acid."

CALCIUM: ".........The best sources for calcium are natural ground limestone,
dolomite, wood ashes, bone meal, and oyster shells."
========
I keep a small flock of chickens, & have eggshells & oyster shells available for
my patch. I crush dried eggshells & add them to my compost pile & pumpkin patch.
I haven't tried adding oyster shells yet.
