 Hi list
Well it is getting that time and I am just itching to get those great sees I have collected in the ground !!! Wow what a wonderful time of year flowers are in bloom birds are singing and I am almost done with my patch!! This is such a fun hobby !! Well, I thought I would bring you all up to date as to the progression of the Smith patch.. Mound #1 is 90% complete this is the one with the aeration experiment. I carried it out to the extreme this year adding another Three 4 inch breather tubes instead of the original 1... This is buried in a pit 16 ft long by 6 ft wide by 3 1/2 feet deep (Hand Dug by me). We will have to see how this improves the root base !!!
  Mound 2 is a simple dig and refill method. I dug a hole 6 ft wide by 2 1/2 feet deep by 10 feet long and filled it like mound # 1 with compost, vermiculite, garden soil, Gypsum and Shell flower. But different from #1 I added a whole deepfreeze of freezer burned Bluefin tuna and Albacore Tuna. Don't know in weight but about 25 five gallon bucket fulls. In other words allot !!!!
  Mound #3 is just a simple plot no mound !!! Just compost, vermiculite, Shell flower, and gypsum, rototillered in evenly !!!
  Here are my seeds up to Date !!
  
  Mound #1... 611 Hester
  Mound #2... 845 Bobier
  Mound #3... 758 Smith

 OH if you are not growing the 758 Smith this year thats ok you will be next year !!! The plant I have growing this year is scary (not the one in the patch) main vine grows 3 1/2 Feet straight up then lays over then back up then over, Looks like a Dragon more than a snake like I am used to. The leaves are BIG and the runner robust and strong. I set two pumpkins on it last April 15 and 16 and they are doing great round as a billiard ball with 11 inch flowers and great stems. They are bright yellow so I am really hoping they look like mommy !!
