Spring has sprung in SE MN - Report #1 from the Bhaskaran Patch...

Wishing everyone a fun and fruitful 2003 growing season! We have had 2-70
degree days in a row with 2 more to go! Woohoo!!!
The family and I dug 2(of 5) 8 circle pits (2 feet deep) (2 plants per pit -
Xmas Tree) and filled them with compost, cow manure, peat, iron, bone meal,
alumn sulfate, and some 10-10-10....not much. I put in the 36 ft of heating
cables(per pit) and created the George Brook's soil green house. (We had a
high of 28 a week ago!! :-)
Thanks to all who gave my son and I great seed! Someone(I won't name) even
gave my son a 1337 Houghton, so he could beat me! ;-) It is always tough to
choose which ones to grow, but here are the 10 for 2003....

Plot #1:
430 Bhaskaran 02 (1230 Daletas(f) x 760 Patrick(m)) should be a great
orange!
703 N. Bhaskaran 02 (568 N. Bhaskaran x self) My son's and yes he beat me in
2002!
NOTE: THIS PLOTS SEEDS HAVE BEEN STARTED!!!

Plot #2:
760 Patrick 99(801.5 Stelts x self) - Best seed ever for that "red" orange
look!!!
1230 Daletas 01( 705 Stelts x 846 Calai) - I grew this last year and liked
it.

Plot #3:
1105 Stucker 02 (846 Calai x 801.5 Stelts) - Seed is a tad damaged, but I am
hoping it grows...cause this is an AWESOME cross!
501.5 Beachy (Tom's secret seed) - It will produce a great orange pumpkin!

Plot #4:
1092 Daigle 02 - (810 Dill x 658 Emmons) - the 810 produces a great color and
shape...but not sure what the 658 cross will produce.
947 Patrick - (801.5 Stelts x self) - Another "red" orange pumpkin! Super
Seed!!!

Plot #5:
1337 Houghton 02 - (845 Bobier x 712 Kuhn) This is my sons and as he wants
to grow 2 pumpkins this year....but it will most likely not be a nice
orange...but he doesn't care, just as long as he beats my pretty pumpkins
:-).
654 Troy (940 Mombert x open) This looks like a nice orange pumpkin...it
rivals the 656 Bhaskaran 00 for the best looking ever...LoL :-).
