RE: Chicken manure....Good or No?

Thanks Dave. I think you have summarizes the advice very nicely. Our farmer
friend came by tonight and I gave him some large buckets to fill instead of
him filling a truck full, since it is obvious I don't need that much.

I was going to take someone else's advice and just pile it in a corner, but
my husband didn't like the idea because that is exactly where the grandsons
will decide to play when visiting. They love piles of dirt and to dig holes,
so he was right. They will think it is a nice pile of dirt. They are 2 and
4, so manure is just a word to them. They will only see the pile and want to
dig. Their mother will have a fit.

So, we went from a truck load to 8 large buckets full in one afternoon.
Plus, the farm is always there. I can get cow manure, chicken manure or
horse manure whenever I want it. Dah, why didn't I think of that! But, I
sincerely appreciate all the answers to my question. It really helped me
make a decision...

Amelia,

Chicken manure is good, but it is strong, don't put too much on the garden
or it can burn your tender plants (in the Spring), also if you use it till
it in well. I have a friend who has been using chicken manure for years now
(10+ years) and has had very good success (his best is 699.4lbs). Be ready
for the 'smell', it is rather strong.
