Re: Seed viability


I have hundreds of seeds in the freezer and some planted this year.  If the 
seed is good it will keep for years.  Other growers have tried them with 
success too.  I have found that frozen seed germinates faster than the same 
seed planted from dry storage.  One theory I heard was the freezing activates 
a genetic trigger that makes it think it has over wintered and it's Spring 
and it increases it's vigor.  Some apple seeds will not germinate at all 
unless frozen/chilled to make it think it's wintered over.
